On December 9, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming and Madam Hu Pinghua attended the Thank-you Reception of the 15th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) hosted by the UK Chinese Business Association (UKCBA). Sir John Peace, Chairman of the Steering Committee of WCEC and Chairman of the Midlands Engine in Britain, Sir Anthony Seldon, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buckingham, Zhang Jinlong, Chairman of UKCBA and Chairman of the Working Committee of WCEC, Yang Tengbo, Executive Chairman of WCEC, Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint, Chairman of Asia House, and more than 100 representatives of the UK political and business circles and overseas Chinese were present.

Ambassador Liu delivered a speech entitled Following the Times and Promoting the Overall Situation of Cooperation. He congratulated UKCBA on the success of the 15th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC), which was held recently in London, noting that the convention has followed the trend of the times by providing a platform for cooperation. It is a convention for friendship, cooperation and win-win results. It has set many records and left three important lessons, i.e. first, unity enables Chinese entrepreneurs to do great deeds; second, mutual trust and mutual benefit pave the thoroughfare to China-UK cooperation; third, openness and inclusiveness are the trend of our times.

The Ambassador said in closing, “The 15th WCEC has been a great success. But Chinese entrepreneurs across the world still have work to do in pooling their strength, extending their influence and enhancing the cooperation. At the same time, China and the UK also have work to do: We must seek opportunities, deepen consensus and share the outcomes of cooperation. Let’s join hands to take full advantage of the development opportunities through greater opening up, and achieve win-win results through deeper cooperation. Let’s join hands to make new contribution to building a community with a shared future for mankind.”

In their speeches, Sir John and Sir Anthony noted that the success of the 15th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention is a new beginning for the deepening of cooperation between Britain and China. Looking ahead, UK-China cooperation has great potential and broad prospects. Both sides should work together to achieve more fruitful results in their cooperation.

On behalf of the organizers of the 15th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, Chairman Zhang Jinlong expressed his sincere thanks for the strong support from all walks of life. He hoped that the convention would inject new impetus into the cooperation between China and Britain.

From October 21 to 23, the 15th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention hosted by the UK Chinese Business Association was successfully held in London. 3,000 Chinese businessmen from nearly 60 countries and regions, as well as representatives from the political and business circles in China and the UK, attended the event.
